Hi,

Hmmm,
gcc version 3.2.3 20030502 (Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-53)
did not work for me:

902> ~/dock/legacy_accessories g77 sortDOCKout.f
sortDOCKout.f: In program `sortdockout':
sortDOCKout.f:475:
    19011 FORMAT(A<k>)
                   ^
Variable-expression FORMAT specifier at (^) -- unsupported
...

Nor did
pgf77 6.0-8 32-bit target on x86 Linux
913> ~/dock/legacy_accessories pgf77 sortDOCKout.f
PGFTN-S-0026-Unmatched quote (sortDOCKout.f: 204)
PGFTN-S-0026-Unmatched quote (sortDOCKout.f: 205)
PGFTN-S-0026-Unmatched quote (sortDOCKout.f: 333)
PGFTN-S-0038-Symbol, morie, has not been explicitly declared (sortDOCKout.f: 373)
PGFTN-S-0023-Syntax error - unbalanced parentheses (sortDOCKout.f: 483)
PGFTN-S-0218-Statement labeled 1908 is not a FORMAT (sortDOCKout.f)
0 inform, 0 warnings, 6 severes, 0 fatal for sortdockout
PGFTN/x86 Linux/x86 6.0-8: compilation completed with severe errors

But these are all >72 char line issues.

Note that there looks to be a fair amount of cleanup to get the
legacy_accessories into the 21st century.
I'll investigate whether there is any merit to such work.

Also note that DOCK 6's prepare_amber.pl script could be a starting place
for someone looking to replace sortDOCKout.f.
