[Dock-fans] sphgen problems

I'm a newbie, and I'm having trouble with sphgen.  It was working fine one day and then it wouldn't work any more.  The error message I get says:  "bash:  sphgen:  command not found"  If it had never worked, I could believe that the file wasn't there or the program hadn't been installed properly.  But I'm troubled by the change in behavior.  I'm wondering if anybody has any insights about other situations that might cause this error message.  Thanks.
